Memorial Day is a day we set aside to remember those service men and women who paid the ultimate price in offering up their lives in defense of our great nation. Those serving in our armed forces hold a special place in our hearts at Exhibit Edge. We know that we only have the freedom to own our own business, serve our clients, and go into a job we love every morning because of the daily sacrifices made by our military and their families.
We are proud to support the Army Historical Foundation as one of our clients. They are dedicated to the preservation of the history of the American Soldier, with their motto being “Preserve the Heritage…Educate the Future.” The importance of organizations such as the Army Historical Foundation is especially realized on days like today, as we take time to remember those who have given their lives throughout our nation’s great history.
As we go through our hectic days, we so easily lose sight of what our freedom cost. If you’ve served, you know what all is entailed. If you haven’t, though, it’s hard to comprehend everything these soldiers face on a daily basis. They must live their lives bound by the needs and demands of the government, following orders no matter the consequence. Summoning every ounce of strength in them, they must endure rigorous physical training oftentimes in scorching heat. Their families are deeply impacted, as they must either uproot their lives and move to their next station or be without their loved one for months (sometimes years) on end.
Above all, though, on Memorial Day we remember those brave souls who nobly accepted their death in a final act of devotion and loyalty to their beloved country. These men and women put on their uniform every day willing to sacrifice their future, their dreams, their lives — all in the name of freedom. For far too many, that tragic day came. Best friends, sons, moms, brothers, wives – they were all loved and left an irreplaceable hole in someone’s life. These courageous spirits bestowed on all of us the highest gift: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
While you are outside today enjoying your day at the beach or cookout with friends, stop and reflect for a moment on the reasons you’re able to have days like today. All of our freedom has been bought with a price, and we at Exhibit Edge are forever grateful to those soldiers who paid it.
